Rodtang takes on MMA Champion Demetrious Johnson in Historical Match

Rodtang Jitmuangnon is set to enter the stage for what could be one of the biggest fights in his sporting career. This Saturday, 26th March at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the Muay Thai champion will clash head on against world-renowned mma legend, Demetrious Johnson in a unique mixed-rules superfight. The pair will co-headline ONE X, the 10th year anniversary event for ONE Championship.

The special-rules superfight marks a first in ONE’s promotional history. In order to account for the two competitors’ different martial arts background, the 4-round bout will alternate between Muay Thai and mma rules. The pair will compete under Muay Thai rules in rounds one and three, and mma rules in rounds two and four. They will also be fighting in standard 4oz mma gloves.

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson is considered by many to be one of the greatest pound-for-pound mma fighters of all time. A global mma icon, Johnson is a UFC flyweight world champion with 11 title defenses and once went undefeated for 13 consecutive fights. The 35-year-old American fighter has clocked 3 wins out of 4 appearances since transferring to ONE Championship in 2019. Johnson comes from a strong wrestling background but is also known for his fast movements and striking ability. He is expected to dominate in rounds two and four, but will first need to survive the bombardment of “the Tank” in the first round.

Rodtang is best known and loved for his aggressive hard-hitting and forward-moving fight style. The 24-year-old Thai striking sensation has multiple titles under his belt including the ONE Championship Muay Thai featherweight world champion with 3 title defenses to date. Over the past year, Rodtang has been preparing for the upcoming challenge by taking up BJJ and mma training which will prove handy against Johnson. With 267 Muay Thai wins to his name, Rodtang is ready to extend his legacy in the coming superfight and attempt to steamroll his way to victory.

Besides the mma vs Muay Thai superfight, ONE X features a stacked fight card of 20 bouts starring many of the biggest names in combat sports. ONE X will be streamed live in 3 parts over ONE’s YouTube channel and Facebook page with part 3 being a pay-per-view on the promotion’s website for $40. ONE X live stream will kick off at 1pm local time (1am ET).
