A huge domestic showdown between two UK featherweight elites is brewing. Returning to the University of Bolton Stadium on 31st July, YOKKAO 49 - 50 has confirmed its second bout featuring Jacob Smith taking on Tam McCourt.
Smith and McCourt currently hold the top two spots on the UK rankings for the featherweight division, making this a massive contest to be the UK’s number one.
Jacob Smith is a name that needs no introduction for the UK fight fans. The hard-hitting pressure fighter will be making his 4th appearance on the YOKKAO stage on 31st July. After 2 back-to-back wins in his last two YOKKAO outings, Smith is now looking for the hat-trick. Smith’s fights have always ended in devastation one way or another, and with his number one spot on the line, we expect this to be no exception. Smith will be defending his crown against the challenger, Tam McCourt.
Fighting out of Boxfit Glasgow, McCourt is set to make his promotional debut for YOKKAO. He is currently ranked number one in Scotland, and number two in the UK. The 30-year-old has been making his way up the fierce competitions of the UK rankings and now has set his eyes on the top of the charts. With a dynamic style and heavy hands to boot, McCourt will be bringing the war to Smith until there is only the last man standing.
As always, the coming event will bring together UK’s top names and up-and-coming fighters. The featherweight clash between Smith and McCourt will join the high-profile rematch featuring Panicos Yusuf vs Chris Shaw. Look out for more bouts on the fight card which will be announced in the coming days.
