Sam-A Trains at YOKKAO Training Center to Prepare for Upcoming Fight

Sam-A Gaiyanghadao takes his training for his next fight up a notch by training at the Yokkao Training Center in Bangkok. The Muay Thai legend is set to face Irish fighter, Ryan Sheehan, as one of the undercards for ONE Lumpinee 9 on March 17 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, also in Bangkok.

Philip Villa, the founder of Yokkao, stated, “we are excited to help Sam-A train for his next fight. He is such a legend and we are proud that he chose to train at our training center to make sure he is extra sharp come March 17.”

Coming off two straight victories that were promoted by Petchyindee, Sam-A is all set to make his return to ONE Championship after a near two-year hiatus from the promotion. His last fight for them was a defense of the ONE Muay Thai Strawweight Title, which he lost to fellow Thai, Prajanchai in July of 2021. After that loss, Sam-A did not fight for almost a year, before having a couple of fights at Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok. This next fight is his attempt to return to prominence and perhaps earn another title shot in the near future.

Sam-A is one of the modern legends of Muay Thai, having some of the most notable achievements in the art of 8 limbs. Among his considerable accolades is being a two-division champion in Lumpinee Stadium, having won the junior bantamweight (115 lb.) and bantamweight (118 lb.) titles. He also won the Thailand championships in four different weight classes (115, 118, 122, 126) and also won the WBC Muay Thai Super Featherweight crown, among his numerous championships.

More recently, he held titles in ONE Championship, having been their Strawweight Kickboxing world champion, Strawweight, and Flyweight Muay Thai world champion. He was their inaugural Strawweight Muay Thai world titlist and defended and was also their inaugural Strawweight Kickboxing world titlist.

The fact that Sam-A is training at the Yokkao Training Center is a testament to how serious he is to get back into contention. He recognizes what it takes to get back to the top and top-notch training is where it all starts.
